San Pedro

I went to San Pedro to be part of the celebration of San Pedro, the saint of the fisherman. It was fun and also long and tiring...haha along the way I got sick once again. It seems that what ever I do in Ecuador, I get sick. The party started in a little town called Ayangue, not too far from San Pedro, and from there everyone had to get on boats and cruise on all the way to San Pedro. When I got on the boat I felt fine, I was taking pictures and having the time of my life, then I felt something weird, my head started to hurt and I felt really dizzy. Thankfully I didn't puke and fortunately the people on the boat were kind enough to help me get through the grueling pain of sea sickness by giving me limes to suck on. Anyway, here are some pictures of what I saw that day:

People getting ready for the festival in celebration of Saint Pedro patron of the fishermen

The boat was full of decorations that represent the work and life of a fisherman

This house belongs to one of the men in the  above picture. It may look like a normal house, but its a house turned into a  museum! Ha! look below!

Here is the man's collections( Museum) of photos of the town many years ago, before they had a paved road.

There were chickens in this man's house.

This kid was playing by himself and he looked at me and thought it was the  perfect moment for a photo! So adorable!

San Pedro fesitval!

I'm not sure how it is in the sierra, but on the coast people are big on  pageants. These are the winners of the pageants for their own category.

Dancing away!

For any type of celebration people go out and by brand new clothing. These two ladies were dressed up.

Isla Peloso
This island has a coral reef and it is being destroyed by fishermen and other crazy people who don't understand the ecology of the ocean, however it was beautiful to see this place and all of the pelicans and seagulls flying.

We finally arrived to San Pedro and the party continues...

bringing in the fish and other goodies!

Thought this ship was beautiful and the lighting was just perfect

Around around goes the merry- go- round!

Updating my blog is extremely difficult when I don't have access to internet 24/7. So I'm going to do my best to post as much as I can while I'm still here in Ecuador! Below are some pictures that I took one day while walking around La Libertad.

Lady looking outside her window. She didn't look completely enthused, but more relaxed and  calm. Still, this is a nice view.

Black clams

This Butcher was cutting up a cows head. I couldn't watch anymore because it was making me sick, plus raw meat has a certain scent that turns me off!  But it was interesting to watch
I thought these bananas were so beautifully placed, I just had to take a picture!
